Inaugural Dinner Suggestions

I'm planning a dinner party for inauguration night and am trying to come up with a menu. I need food that is very American, fairly easy to prepare, and with ingredients available in Sweden. What do you think?

Love it... and I actually thought of the same idea, but the date just did not work with our calendar!

Since he is from Chicago, I think you need "chicago food" because when Bush went to the White House, the Inaugural balls all had a Texas BBQ theme...

Chicago is known for their deep dish pizzas... I have had them and they truly are some of the best. You could do several different varieties?! just an idea...

Hamburger and fries? As well as apple pie? Not sure if that's American.

I am from the south so fried chicken, greens, cornbread, and black eyed peas come to mind! We had an american going away party when we moved here, and ate cheese doodles and all kinds of junk food we thought they might not have here! Our favorite food at that party was a dessert S'mores amde form Golden Grahams cereal. http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1710,157178-254197,00.html

You'd need a freind to mail you the cereal, though... and you can use choclate bars for the chips. You can always just make choclate chip cookies, or do the mup int oice cream sandwiches with vanilal ice cream to be very american, as well!
